Ironically, despite being an island surrounded by the ocean, Taiwan still faces drought at times.....
Since Taichung City Government redeveloped the former site of the South Airport, everything in the surrounding area has succumbed to property development. What appears to be an urban planning initiative has, in reality, merely erased all traces. While superficially creating a park, it has effectively severed the connection between people and nature. This land, long exposed and neglected, has become parched and cracked.
We recognise the educational value of water resources and aim to use this opportunity to demonstrate the water cycle to the public. Considering Taichung's high evaporation rate, we calculated the unit area and selected plant species with vigorous transpiration to illustrate this process.
When the time is ripe, we shall construct an artificial hill, integrating three water collection and utilisation facilities with the surrounding slopes to demonstrate the process of water recycling.
Site Planning:
The square geometry of the site promotes natural sun exposure.
Circular geometries represent artificial intervention.
