The Chinese character “又” can be read as “again.” When duplicated into “双,” it takes on the meaning of “a pair.” This reveals an intriguing quality of Chinese script: its hieroglyphic form generates meaning, allowing structure and interpretation to intertwine.

The chair I designed follows this logic. It embodies the idea of “双” a twin form that, when pulled apart, transforms instantly into a table. The two exist in mutual support, each enabling the other, allowing an immediate passage from one condition to the next.

The city, too, is a site of convergence. I imagine it as a vast wallpaper, a curtain that sets the stage. In this context, wedding photography becomes a medium for transformation: the gown acts as a threshold. By manipulating the frame I select, a single composition can become a tipping point. When the urban backdrop and the gown coexist, they collaborate to produce an image that inhabits both the real and the unreal.

The site lies beside Taipei’s Xinsheng Expressway, a major overhead artery that stitches together its surroundings. Passing through, the expressway becomes a ceiling, signaling a spatial transition—from the city into the sheltered void beneath, and then back into the public realm.

My aim is to use architecture to create spaces that are logically coherent yet subtly strange—spaces where the simple act of crossing a wall becomes an immediate departure from reality.
